# Lit-Up Locatable Doorknobs Peek Door Handle Takes the Guesswork of Nighttime Interior Navigation By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-09-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peek-door-handle References: [deco-design.biz](http://deco-design.biz/poignee-de-porte-lumineuse-peek-par-dnd-x-karim-rashid/10478/) & [karimrashid](http://www.karimrashid.com/) If you haven't already mastered every pace and turn in your pitch black home during the night, the Peek Door Handle can potentially make your journey to the toilet a great deal less like an obstacle course. Karim Rashid collaborated with DND to produce a very simple adjustment to the [typical doorknob design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edge-door-handle) that makes all the difference to the user after dark. Upon the [metal lever-style handgrip](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aqara-smart-lock-u300), a small area has been designated for a [fluorescent indicator](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glowing-relief). The light-absorbing pellets inside emit a green glow in an unlit room, guiding one's hand towards the top of the latch so he can easily release it and open it up. The Peek Door Handle is a remarkably simple solution to a common inconvenience. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Locatable Doorknobs:** Doorknobs with locatable features will make it easy for users to navigate in the dark. - **Fluorescent Indicators:** Fluorescent indicators that absorb light and emit a glow will be a trend for products in low-light environments. - **Simple Solutions:** The trend towards simple solutions for common problems will continue in product design. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can integrate doorknobs with locatable features into their designs to provide added convenience to homeowners. - **Home Improvement:** Home improvement companies can incorporate fluorescent indicators into their products to help homeowners navigate in low-light conditions. - **Medical Technology:** Medical technology companies can use fluorescent indicators to make medical devices and equipment more visible in low-light environments like hospitals and clinics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interior Push-Pull Door Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anylock-milda.md) - [Hands-Free Door Handle Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/safe-lever-door-opener.md) - [3D-Printed Door Gear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ross-lovegroves-door-handles.md) - [Hands-Free Home Doors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/milda-evolve-door.md) - [Mood-Setting Adventurous Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guidelight.md) - [Domed Door Knob Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/h03-knob-on-half-moon.md) - [Quad-Access Connected Doorknobs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tcl-k1.md) - [Soundless Doorbell Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silent-doorbell-1.md) - [Intelligent Accessible Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamptok-light.md)
