# Nutty iDevice Speaker System PEANUT Musical Furniture Plays Tunes and Seats Three By Michael Hines | Published 2011-12-26 | Updated 2011-12-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peanut-musical-furniture References: [designbuzz](http://www.designbuzz.com/peanut-shaped-seating-literally-musical-chair.html) & [miniwiz](http://miniwiz.com/en/products/shelter/the-peanut) PEANUT musical furniture is a modern and multifunctional set of furniture designed with music at its core. PEANUT was designed by MINIWIZ and is made using a thermally compressed sustainable wood veneer. The core of PEANUT is its [iPod](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-wireless-speaker) dock that houses a [built-in amplifier and subwoofer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-modular-sound). The layers of PEANUT musical furniture can literally be peeled off to create seating, shelving and just about anything else you can think of. As an added bonus, each piece of PEANUT looks like an actual peanut. Being able to seat a handful of friends or construct a shelf in a pinch is something most iDevice docks don't offer. With the glut of iDevice docks out there, designers need to do something to standout. Integrating a sound system with furniture is a great way to get consumer attention. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 45% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Musical Furniture:** PEANUT offers a unique example of musical furniture, which opens the opportunity for designers to explore this trend further. - **Multifunctional Furniture:** PEANUT showcases the potential for furniture to not only serve one purpose, but multiple, and designers can build on this trend for sustainable and efficient living spaces. - **Integrated Sound Systems:** The integration of sound systems into furniture, as seen in PEANUT, presents a promising opportunity for designers to create products that merge technology with traditional home furnishings. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can benefit from incorporating technology, such as sound systems, to create innovative and multifunctional products like PEANUT. - **Consumer Electronics:** Consumer electronics companies can leverage the idea of musical furniture like PEANUT to create new, tech-savvy products that appeal to a wider range of customers. - **Sustainable Materials:** PEANUT's use of thermally compressed sustainable wood veneer presents an opportunity for designers and manufacturers to explore more eco-friendly and sustainable materials in furniture production. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Furniture-Shaped Speaker Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eversolo-se100-speakers.md) - [Tree-Inspired Speaker Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-pick-stand-speaker.md) - [Posh Parabolic Design Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deskpod.md) - [Stealthy Multifunctional Speaker Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eko-system.md) - [Transforming Speaker Furniture Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ound.md) - [Seamless Sofa Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/come-together-1.md) - [Modular Table Seatings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair.md) - [Multifunctional Speaker-Incorporated Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prisoom.md) - [Phone Charger-Infused Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phone-chargerinfused-speaker.md)
