# Iconic Inebriated Cartoon Drawings Paul Ribera Draws Your Favorite Animated Friends on Drugs By Davina Sinnatamby | Published 2014-03-11 | Social Media Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-ribera References: [elitedaily](http://elitedaily.com/envision/childhood-ruined-this-is-what-your-favorite-cartoons-would-look-like-as-drug-addicts-photos/) & [panicdots](http://panicdots.com/2014/03/cartoons-on-drugs-by-paul-ribera/) Paul Ribera is truly an artistic genius to have imagined our favorite childhood cartoons as drug addicts in his images entitled 'Cartoons on Drugs.' It is hard to imagine our beloved 90s cartoons would ever loose their innocence, but Paul Ribera skillfully managed to accurately portray this. He has completely warped the sweet, child-like faces of the Power Puff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Dexter, The Rugrats and many other 90s icons. The resulting pictures are hauntingly graphic and disturbingly accurate. They truly capture the curled up, cracked lips, the vacant, drug-hungry gaze and the stretched-out drug-ready tongues of drug addicts. Perhaps the artist believes that no one stays innocent forever. Or perhaps the images double as a public service announcement. If you think it's disturbing to see your childhood cartoons drugged up, then don't do it to yourself. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.8/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 98% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Social Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/socialmedia) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Graphic Art Disruption:** Exploring graphic art that challenges conventional portrayals and evokes strong emotions through disturbing imagery. - **Controversial Art Revival:** Reviving controversial art concepts that spark public debate and challenge societal norms. - **Nostalgia Reimagined:** Reimagining nostalgic icons and characters from the past in provocative and unexpected ways. ### Who This Affects Most - **Contemporary Art:** Opportunities for artists to push boundaries, provoke reactions, and question societal values through unconventional and controversial art forms. - **Entertainment and Media:** Content creators and media platforms are given the opportunity to engage audiences through controversial and thought-provoking visual representations. - **Social Advocacy:** Using art as a medium to raise awareness and challenge societal issues, such as substance abuse, by highlighting the impact through iconic characters and childhood nostalgia. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cartoon Painting Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cartoon-painting-collections-diamond-art-club-and-paramount-join-forces-for.md) - [Childlike Characters Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/childlike-characters-art-exhibition.md) - [Revived Retro Animations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stranger-things-animated-series.md) - [Nostalgic Art-Inspired Cannabis Branding](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kristofferson-san-pablo.md) - [Graphic Colorful Joint Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/richard-prince.md) - [Pop Art Legend-Honoring Dolls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keiichi-tanaami-1.md) - [Adult Animated Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/animated-comedy.md) - [Burgeoning Psychedelic Art Movements](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psychedelic-art-movement.md) - [Nostalgic Cartoon Tech Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/power-puff-girls-collection.md)
