# Folding Ombre Reflectors The Patrick Norguet Tryptique Mirror is Shape-Shifting Cool By Shiori Mine | Published 2012-07-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patrick-norguet-tryptique-mirror References: [mocoloco](http://mocoloco.com/archives/027423.php) & [mobilier.pleyel.fr](http://mobilier.pleyel.fr/fr) The Patrick Norguet Tryptique Mirror can be altered and positioned in a number of ways that reflect the space's overall environment. In collaboration with French piano maker [Pleyel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saintdenis-pleyel-station), Norguet designed a series of home decor pieces for the collection. The [three-paneled mirror](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/agni-modular) is constructed from a series of [swinging swivel mechanisms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table), allowing home owners to move the panels independently. Although these reflective boards appear ordinary at first glance, they are each coated with a matte black finish. This subtle lacquer creates an eye-catching ombre gradient when the panels are positions in a certain way, dependent on the surrounding space. Although Pleyel is known for its high-end, quality instruments, the Patrick Norguet Tryptique Mirror is a reflective collaboration due to its clean-cut, elegant design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Shape-shifting Mirrors:** The concept of mirrors that can be altered and positioned in different ways opens up opportunities for customizable and adaptive home decor solutions. - **Ombre Gradient Finishes:** The use of matte black finishes that create ombre gradients on reflective surfaces offers a visually striking and unique design element for furniture and decor pieces. - **Collaborative Design Partnerships:** Collaborations between designers and manufacturers in different industries, such as furniture and musical instruments, can result in innovative and unexpected product offerings. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** The concept of shape-shifting mirrors and ombre gradient finishes presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the home decor industry, allowing for customizable and visually striking mirror designs. - **Furniture:** The use of swinging swivel mechanisms in mirror designs can inspire disruptive innovation in the furniture industry, providing new possibilities for adjustable and adaptable furniture pieces. - **Musical Instruments:** The collaboration between a mirror designer and a piano maker highlights the potential for disruptive innovation in the intersection of the musical instrument and home decor industries, offering unique and artistic instrument designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Structural Mirror Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bton-brut.md) - [Curvaceous Shelf-Paired Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wave-mirror.md) - [Illusory Doorway Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panis-mirror.md) - [Geometrical Golden Ratio Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ascension-wall-mirror.md) - [Optical Illusion Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hooptical.md) - [Bifold Functional Storage Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabine-mirror.md) - [Space-Saving Garment Care Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flip-dualfunction-ironing-board-mirror.md) - [Dynamic Structural Mirror Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zigzag-collection.md) - [Artful Custom Mirror Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portraits-collection.md)
