Tait's unnamed design aims to simplify the garden by integrating walkway lighting with the sprinkler system. Tait's system features a [solar-powered lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/govee-outdoor-solar-string-lights) designed to be installed directly into the sprinkler system. The system can be used to provide either light or water, and can be retracted into the ground to make it less of a hazard during lawn mowing and backyard play. Anyone who has had a sizable yard knows how much of a pain it can be to deal with walkway lighting. Integrating these lights into the sprinkler system would make upkeep easier. The conceptual images of Patricia Tait's lighting/watering system show a compact tool that will fit in smoothly with most gardens. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 49% | Activity: 30% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Combination Systems:** The integration of walkway lighting with sprinkler systems presents opportunities for simplifying garden maintenance. - **Solar-powered Innovations:** The use of solar-powered lamps in the combination system offers environmentally-friendly and cost-effective solutions. - **Retractable Design:** The feature of retractability in the lighting/watering system ensures safety and convenience during lawn mowing and backyard activities. ### Who This Affects Most - **Landscaping:** The landscaping industry can benefit from offering combination systems that integrate lighting and watering services for customers. - **Green Technology:** The green technology industry can explore opportunities in developing innovative solar-powered solutions for outdoor lighting and watering systems. - **Home Improvement:** The home improvement industry can tap into the market demand for smart and convenient outdoor lighting/watering systems by showcasing retractable designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Outdoor Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lanova.md) - [Solar-Powered Floral Garden Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solar-tree-house.md) - [Smart Self-Watering Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tendril-1.md) - [Garden-Integrated Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-gardening-1.md) - [Self-Watering Multifunctional Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grow-lamp.md) - [Outdoor Lamp Post Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-lamp-post-light.md) - [Biophilic Garden Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-organism-lights.md) - [Plant-Friendly Night Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacecrop.md) - [Self-Watering Compact Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patella-crescenda.md)
