The planter works by being filled at the bottom with your choice of stones or pebbles before having the upper section filled with garden soil. Users can then plant their choice of flowers or herbs that prefer half-shade to transform the otherwise utilitarian unit into an eye-catching decorative touch. The Rhino 'BaseMate' patio umbrella base planter brings a stylish touch to an outdoor living space that will work well in residential areas or even on patios at restaurants to hide an essential but otherwise ordinary item. The base can be used with virtually any outdoor umbrella and is excellent for under tables or freestanding use. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 9% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Multifunctional Patio Equipment:** The Rhino 'BaseMate' base planter transforms a utilitarian patio accessory into a decorative touch. - **Outdoor Ambience Enhancement:** The planter allows users to grow flowers or herbs to enhance the overall atmosphere of an outdoor living space. - **Disguised Industrial Design:** The base planter works as a stylish cover for otherwise ordinary patio equipment, providing an opportunity for disguised industrial design innovation. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor and Furnishings:** The planter offers a decorative touch to outdoor living spaces in residential areas. - **Hospitality and Restaurant Industry:** The stylish base can be used to cover patio equipment in restaurant patios, offering an opportunity to enhance the outdoor ambience for customers. - **Patio Equipment Manufacturing:** The planter adds a new feature to traditional patio umbrella bases, providing an opportunity for innovation in patio equipment manufacturing. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rainwater Multifunctional Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/raindrop-1.md) - [Connected Dual Functioning Umbrellas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hulasol.md) - [Modular Urban Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planter-300.md) - [Artful Sculptural Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inbetween-umbrella.md) - [Multifunctional Plant Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/face-plant-planter.md) - [Wall-Mounted Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/umbrella-1.md) - [Wall Art Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/justin-case.md) - [Minimal Gridded Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-grid.md) - [Water Catch-Integrated Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hemisphere.md)
