# Unbelievable Balancing Furniture Pascal Anson Turns an Ordinary Chair into Something Extraordinary By Josh Milenthal | Published 2010-09-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pascal-anson-balances-a-chair References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2010/09/14/chair-on-one-foot/) & [iampascal](http://www.iampascal.com/index.html) Artist/designer Pascal Anson looked back to his childhood days to find inspiration for this project. Remembering the days when he used to lean back in his chair in class to find the perfect balance point, he decided to make this a bit easier on all of us. Taking an [ordinary chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sitter-chair), Anson balances the chair on either two legs or one with ease. Using three very precise cuts in the legs, he was able to do this. His reasons for completing the project as well as its meaning make it all the more worthwhile. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Balancing Furniture:** Creating furniture that can balance on two or one leg provides a unique and mesmerizing design element for interior spaces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** By incorporating precise cuts and innovative balance mechanisms, furniture designers can create visually captivating and functional pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [One-Legged Structural Wooden Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pere-chair.md) - [Table-Equipped Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/migo-chair.md) - [Ultra-Simple Multifunctional Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chairpf.md) - [Flatpack Single-Piece Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leaning-chair-set.md) - [Unexpected Boundary-Pushing Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atypical-chair.md) - [Fishing-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/akos-huber.md) - [Gravity-Defying Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-isolounge-chair.md) - [Terrazzo Side Table Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balance-side-table.md) - [Music-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-chair1.md)
