# Telescopic Stove Toppers Pareo Range Hood Retracts to Keep From Obstructing Open Concept Kitchens By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pareo-range-hood References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2014/01/16/this-range-hood-is-better-than-good/) & [bycode.it](http://www.bycode.it/Design.aspx) The Pareo Range Hood presents a unique solution to interfering with [open-concept kitchens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/integrated-kitchen-appliance). This Samuel Codegoni design is intended particularly for a culinary space with a stovetop on an island, making it so that the [ventilation mechanism](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highperformance-kitchen-ventilation-system) must descent in a way that is more visually obstructive than it would be against a wall. This creative has come up with a [futuristic concept](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/next-generation-range-hoods) that can withdraw into itself, reducing its drop by about half. A system of nesting cylinders facilitates the telescopic retracting, opening up the room at eye level when the fan is not in use. Not only is the Pareo Range Hood aesthetically practical, it is also aesthetically pleasing. The appliance has rounded contours with overlapping sloped edges, plus a futuristic reflective metal covering to enhance the look of the contemporary cooking environment. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Telescopic Range Hoods:** The concept of telescopic range hoods presents an opportunity for innovative design solutions in open-concept kitchens. - **Retractable Appliance Technology:** The use of retractable technology in appliances opens up possibilities for creating space-efficient and visually appealing kitchen designs. - **Futuristic Kitchen Appliances:** The trend of futuristic kitchen appliances like the Pareo Range Hood showcases the potential for combining functionality and aesthetic appeal in the kitchen. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Appliance Manufacturing:** The home appliance manufacturing industry can explore opportunities in developing telescopic range hoods and other innovative retractable appliances for modern kitchens. - **Kitchen Design and Renovation:** The kitchen design and renovation industry can incorporate retractable appliance technology to create more space-efficient and visually appealing open-concept kitchen designs. - **Interior Design and Decor:** The interior design and decor industry can embrace the trend of futuristic kitchen appliances to create contemporary cooking environments that combine functionality and aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Storage-Equipped Extractor Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/extractor-hood.md) - [Moveable Kitchen Range Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airhood.md) - [Space-Saving Range Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oilvent.md) - [Adjustable Lamp-Like Hood Ranges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-air-purifier.md) - [Stealthy Functional Kitchen Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mono-kitchen-hood.md) - [Connected Kitchen Range Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ciarra-infinity.md) - [Mini Kitchen Cooking Purifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kokir-cooking-curifier.md) - [Mobile Quad-Filter Range Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breetee-portable-range-hood.md) - [Monochromatic Handle-Hiding Ovens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hide-oven.md)
