# Cubbyhole Space Separators Parawall by Anne Lorenz Gives Dividers Another Task By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-06-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/parawall-by-anne-lorenz References: [annelorenz](http://www.annelorenz.com/index.php?/projekte/parawall/) As people come to appreciate [open plan interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arches-screen), partitions become all the more useful. Parawall by Anne Lorenz offers an especially unique solution for inhabitants of studio and bachelor apartments. The placement of a [Japanese screen](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artisanal-textile-divider) often suggests an absence of usable wall space, so the designer ingeniously offers a rather simple solution for additional storage. The wooden panels that make up this system of separators come as a frame with four rectangles cut out, allowing one to explore three customizable options. The first is to leave these windows bare, so that the room divider simultaneously sections off, and reveals what's behind it. The second permits one to cover these gaps with slats. Lastly, and most compellingly, the Parawall by Anne Lorenz comes with [cubby shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brickbox-modular-shelving) that can be slotted into these openings, fastened in place with magnets. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 51% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Customizable Room Dividers:** There is a growing trend for customizable room dividers that offer both functionality and aesthetic appeal. - **Open Plan Interiors:** The increasing popularity of open plan interiors creates opportunities for innovative partition solutions. - **Multi-purpose Dividers:** There is a trend towards multi-purpose dividers that serve both as room separators and storage solutions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities in creating customizable room dividers. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can leverage the trend of open plan interiors to design innovative partition solutions. - **Home Organization:** The home organization industry can tap into the demand for multi-purpose dividers that provide storage solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Flexible Room Partition Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/room-partition-system.md) - [Contemporary Modular Space Dividers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallstreet.md) - [Sculptural Room Screens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/morgen-screen.md) - [Rotating Panel Room Dividers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ro-room-dividers.md) - [Flatpack Cardboard Room Dividers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nook-room-dividers.md) - [Material-Centric Room Divider Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ren-series.md) - [Hemp Room Dividers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breeze-divider.md) - [Felt-Made Retractable Room Dividers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pixels-1.md) - [Pleated Textile Dividers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plissade.md)
