# Furling Document Dishes Paper Tray by Paul Cocksedge Curls Up to Better Contain the Sheets On Top By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-03-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-tray-by-paul-cocksedge References: [paulcocksedgeshop](http://paulcocksedgeshop.com/collections/all-pieces/products/the-ideas-tray) Consider the Paper Tray by Paul Cocksedge, and under what circumstances a real sheet would take such a shape. If one is laid flat on your desktop and you drop a book adjacent, the displaced air might cause the corners of your document to curl upwards, lifting it and making it shift. This is one reason why you might find a holder or a paperweight useful on your workstation, so that you can keep printed pages neatly together. Different to most, however, this paper tray is smooth with no distinctive edges, which could translate to the object's ineffectiveness. Of course, Paul Cocksedge's [sculptural creation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti) is not flat; instead, the Corian furls in two corners to gently cradle its contents. For added functionality, it integrates a small hole in one end to serve as a little pen holder. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Curled Paper Trays:** The trend of paper trays designed with curled edges for better containment of documents. - **Smooth-edged Paper Trays:** The trend of paper trays with smooth edges, challenging traditional designs for increased effectiveness. - **Integrated Functional Paper Trays:** The trend of paper trays with integrated features, such as pen holders, for enhanced usability. ### Where This Applies - **Office Supplies Industry:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the office supplies industry by introducing innovative paper tray designs that offer better document containment and usability. - **Design Industry:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the design industry by challenging traditional paper tray designs and exploring new shapes and materials that maximize effectiveness. - **Printing and Publishing Industry:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the printing and publishing industry by collaborating with paper tray designers to create trays that optimize document handling and preservation. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimal Storage Tray Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spiral-tray.md) - [Curved Desk Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-set.md) - [Bold Desk Paper Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-tab.md) - [Metal Sheet Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twist-side-table.md) - [Modular Wooden Desk Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/track-concept.md) - [Paper-Like Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cocoon-coffee-table.md) - [Recycled Desk Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tray210.md) - [Undulating Desktop Valet Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wav-minimal-desk-organizer.md) - [Race‑inspired Tracker Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/race-track-desk.md)
