# Marbled Newsprint Lanterns The Utility Paper Light Fixtures are Produced With Processed Paper By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-04-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-light-fixtures References: [ofpaperandthings.blogspot](http://ofpaperandthings.blogspot.ca/2013/03/paper-fix-paper-light.html) & [utopiaandutility.eu](http://utopiaandutility.eu/utopia_and_utility/Utility_paper_Light.html) Hanging from the ceiling in long sculptural columns, the Utility paper light fixtures by furnishing company [Utopia & Utility](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bensons-artisan-mattress-collection) are graceful statement lanterns to have in the home. Mostly white in color with swirls of neon, black and pastels running through the marbled design, these lampshades will work with almost any room decor, yet still stand out enough to be noticed by those with an eye for design. [Thin sheets of paper](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/akari-lamp) are processed and rolled up to create the watercolor effect that undulates with the curves embedded into the lanterns. When the bulbs are lit within the Utility paper light fixtures, some of the thinner areas let the light seep through for a radiant effect. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Marbled Light Fixtures:** Opportunity for creating unique and eye-catching light fixtures using marbled designs. - **Processed Paper Decor:** Potential to incorporate processed paper into home decor products for a modern and eco-friendly aesthetic. - **Watercolor Effect:** Opportunity to apply a watercolor effect to various products, adding a touch of artistic flair. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for creating visually striking light fixtures and home decor utilizing marbled designs. - **Furniture:** Potential to incorporate processed paper materials in furniture production, offering a sustainable and unique design element. - **Art and Craft Supplies:** Opportunity to provide watercolor effect products for artists and craft enthusiasts, enhancing their creative projects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Organic Paper-Like Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farolito.md) - [Recycled Material Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zbozhzha-pendant-light.md) - [Silk Textural Lantern Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lantern-collection.md) - [Blooming Paper Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kazuhiro-yamanaka-tsubomi-lamp.md) - [Paper Lantern-Inspired Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nendo-andon-table.md) - [Paper-Made Origami Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hanging-origami-lamp.md) - [Soft Luxe Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lantern-silk-collection.md) - [Flat-Pack Paper Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tsubomi.md) - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md)
