# Papercraft-Inspired Buildings Unexpected Polish Architecture for Shanghai Exhibition Hall By Cowbag | Published 2009-02-15 | World Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-craft-inspired-buildings-unexpected-polish-architecture References: [thetrendygirl.net](http://www.thetrendygirl.net/2009/02/polish-expo-2010-exposition-pavilion.html) & [wwaa.pl](http://wwaa.pl/indexworks.html) Many moons ago I went to the Expo in Lisbon and sneak previews like that make me really wish I was still a curator and being able to do things like that myself. Standing like a [giant piece of papercraft](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti), this building is from Poland-based WWA Architects. To be fair, Poland is not a country you would normally associate with such [stunning architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-for-paper-art). Construction on this [Shanghai-based exhibition hall](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lake-house-life-experience-pavilion) will start next year. **Implications** - There is no set date for its completion, but I'm impressed with this concept and design. It combines a futuristic swagger with standard avant-garde imagery. WWA Architects defines modernity with this concept. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [World](https://www.trendhunter.com/world) > [Regional](https://www.trendhunter.com/regional) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Papercraft-inspired Architecture:** New architectural designs will incorporate papercraft and other traditional art forms to create futuristic-looking buildings. - **Fusing Tradition and Modernity:** The use of traditional art forms and materials in modern architecture will bring about a fusion of different cultures and styles. - **Three-dimensional Art Forms in Architecture:** Architects will incorporate three-dimensional art forms into buildings to create unique and visually stunning designs. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** The architecture industry will see a rise in demand for unconventional and visually striking building designs. - **Art and Design:** New opportunities will arise for artists and designers to collaborate with architects and bring traditional art forms into modern building designs. - **Construction:** Innovative construction techniques and materials will be needed to bring these new, visually complex designs to life. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paper-Inspired Artful Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-for-papirkunst.md) - [Pointy Paper Lantern Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-lantern-pavilion.md) - [Sleek Spiralling Ramp Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/czech-pavilion.md) - [Interactive Architectural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape.md) - [Metal-Wrapped Exhibition Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trace-architecture.md) - [Billowing Modular Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curly-cube.md) - [Chinese Tradition-Honoring Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chinese-paper-umbrella.md) - [Paper-Like Art Museum Roofs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-for-paper-art.md) - [Serene Waterfront Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lake-house-life-experience-pavilion.md)
