As its name suggests, it is made entirely of [paper tubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves) that drip down at varying lengths. Creating a dynamic space, the Paper Chandeliers installation "articulates the spatial environment mediating between the art installation and the architectural project," as written by the designers. Created by Cristina Parreño Architecture, the Paper Chandeliers installation was chosen to be built for the yearly International Art Fair ARCO Madrid 2013. It was designed in collaboration with an [MIT](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3D-Printed-Appearance-System) team consisting of James Coleman, Sharon Xu, Koharu Usui, Natthida Wiwatwicha and Hannah Ahlblad. The final product offers a [spectacular luminous sight](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shapes-of-light). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Paper Chandeliers:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop more sustainable and eco-friendly materials for paper chandeliers to reduce environmental impact. - **Undulating Forms:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new technologies and materials to create undulating forms in architecture, offering unique and immersive spatial experiences. - **Installation Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate technology, such as interactive elements or projection mapping, into installation art to enhance visitor engagement and interactivity. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate sustainable materials and innovative design techniques to create visually stunning and eco-friendly architectural structures. - **Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Embrace technology to push the boundaries of traditional art mediums and create immersive, interactive art installations. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Experiment with unconventional materials and forms to design unique and visually striking interior spaces that evoke emotional responses. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Suspended Lighting Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/suspended-lighting-installation.md) - [Sculptural Contemporary Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volant.md) - [Pointy Paper Lantern Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-lantern-pavilion.md) - [Jewel-Inspired Chandelier Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pearl-chandelier.md) - [Billowing Modular Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curly-cube.md) - [Tubed Immersive Organ-Like Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organlike-installation.md) - [Delicate Illusory Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aria-light.md) - [Nature-Inspired Urban Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kriskadecor-1.md)
