Ultimately, the collaborators are working towards creating an eco-friendly packaging solution that can be "recycled like any paper." While the inclusion of a plastic liner is still necessary at this stage to keep the paper protected from the liquid contents of the bottle, the partners are exploring ways for this component to be replaced with an even more eco-friendly material to further reduce plastic waste.
