When examined from afar, the sculptures appear two-dimensional but reveal a great amount of depth and detail when viewed up close. These 3D relief sculptures are made using [layered paper geometries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mathematically-shaped) and explore a tense relationship between positive and negative spaces. Huntz Liu's series of [polygonal paper art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kiir) is visually striking and features designs that are both vibrantly hued and all-white in their tone. The works marry illustration, [relief print and sculptural techniques](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curly-cube) and are sustainable thanks to their inexpensive and eco-friendly paper medium. A subtle homage to cubism, the paper sculptures are abstract and filled with a spectrum of saturated and monochromatic hues. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Polygonal Paper Art:** Opportunities for artists to explore the tension between positive and negative spaces using layered paper geometries. - **Eco-friendly Sculptures:** Opportunities for sustainable and affordable paper-based sculptural art. - **Cubist Homage:** Opportunities to create abstract and vibrant artwork inspired by the cubist movement. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Artists can create visually striking paper-based sculptures that can be used for interior decoration, set design in theater or film and exhibition art. - **Eco-friendly Manufacturing:** Artists can create environmentally-friendly sculptures using affordable and sustainable materials creating innovative art for interior decoration. - **Sustainable Fashion Accessories:** This art form can also be employed with environmentally friendly and sustainable materials can lead to innovative jewelry or accessory creation. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Geometric Wooden Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aleph-geddis.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md) - [Geometric Sculpture Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illusion-box.md) - [Pointy Paper Lantern Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-lantern-pavilion.md) - [Limited 3D-Printed Ceramic Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dyadic-series.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [Origami-Inspired Ceramics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-series.md)
