The design of the PAP Chair was based on a [folded sheet of paper](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pastille). Schwindling was born in Merzig, Germany, and only recently graduated from [design school](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ff-chair-collection) in 2007. Her fresh talent is very interesting, however, and the PAP Chair may only be the beginning. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Folded Paper Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of folded paper in various types of furniture designs, creating unique and sustainable products. - **Cute and Playful Designs:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop furniture designs that prioritize aesthetics and embrace a whimsical and fun aesthetic. - **Emerging Furniture Designers:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Support and promote emerging furniture designers who bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the industry. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce folded paper furniture concepts into the mainstream furniture design industry, offering eco-friendly and visually appealing options. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate cute and playful designs into home decor products, appealing to consumers seeking unique and cheerful items for their living spaces. - **Design Education:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Enhance design education programs to nurture and showcase the talents of young furniture designers, fostering innovation and creativity in the field. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Singular Metal Sheet-Made Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fold-chair.md) - [Folded Paper-Inspired Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fold-stool.md) - [Practical Folding Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patan-chair.md) - [Storage-Friendly Origami Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-kerf.md) - [Dynamic Structural Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldont-chair.md) - [High-Quality Flatpack Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pagoda-chair.md) - [Monomaterial Aluminum Folded Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldseat.md) - [Layered Material Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kartela.md) - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md)
