The Pani Community Center was a project of Schilder Scholte Architecture of Rotterdam and locally sourced all handmade bricks, mango wood and local mortar used in building the complex. The center is painted a vibrant yellow that is said to be an homage to the mustard plant that grows in the region, while some of the interior is painted light blue, a hue that biomimicry specialists say repels flies. The [three buildings and courtyard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iztapalapa-pilares-community-center) of the complex, commissioned by not-for-profit organization Pani, are covered by panels of recycled corrugated steel that are supported by thick bamboo canes that reflect the environment. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Bamboo Construction:** Opportunity for innovating sustainable and eco-friendly building materials and techniques using bamboo. - **Community-driven Spaces:** Opportunity to create inclusive and collaborative spaces that cater to the needs of local communities. - **Biophilic Design:** Opportunity to integrate natural elements and mimic natural patterns in architecture and design to create healthier and more sustainable environments. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** The architectural industry can explore new techniques and materials for sustainable and community-focused building projects. - **Sustainable Housing:** The housing industry can adopt bamboo construction as a viable and eco-friendly alternative to traditional building materials. - **Social Impact Organizations:** Nonprofit organizations and social enterprises can leverage community-driven spaces to address local needs and foster social connectivity. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Local Craft-Shown Bamboo Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/northeast-pavilion.md) - [Vaulted Bamboo Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/juliet-center.md) - [Bamboo Forest Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amazon-rainforest-pavilion.md) - [Mandala-Shaped Meditation Halls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mahamudra-meditation-centre.md) - [Bamboo Indonesian Learning Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-living-bridge.md) - [Sustainable Bamboo Tourism Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vlo-cuba.md) - [Bamboo Parasol Community Canopies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tapmi-center.md) - [Terracotta Concrete Community Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iztapalapa-pilares-community-center.md) - [Modular Bamboo Housing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-housing.md)
