# Waffle-Making Pancake Pans Nordic Ware's Pancake Pan Makes Miniature Waffle-Like Pancakes By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2013-08-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pancake-pan References: [fancy](http://fancy.com/things/242148463/Nordic-Ware-Waffled-Pancake-Pan) & [williams-sonoma](http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/nordic-ware-waffled-pancake-pan/) This clever pancake pan is able to make pancakes that have a [waffle-like texture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hapffe-waffle-maker). Unlike a traditional waffle maker, this pan has no lid that is used to press create the waffle-like shape on both sides at once. By pouring pancake batter into each of the molds, half of the waffle pattern is created at a time. The waffle pattern is added to the other side of the pancake by manually flipping it when it gets golden brown on one side. Each mold is about 3" diameter, which makes the perfect [miniature pancakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chocolate-chip-poffertjes). This [Nordic Ware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/honeycomb-loaf-pan) pan is made of cast aluminum and is coated with a non-stick finish. As well, the pancake pan features a stainless steel "stay-cool handle." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Kitchen](https://www.trendhunter.com/kitchen) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Miniature Waffle-like Pancakes:** Opportunity to create new miniature pancake products using a waffle-like texture. - **Non-traditional Waffle Makers:** Opportunity to design new types of waffle makers without lids for unconventional waffle shapes. - **Hybrid Kitchen Appliances:** Opportunity to design kitchen appliances with multiple functions that combine traditional cooking methods. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Cookware Manufacturing:** Opportunity for cookware manufacturers to offer new and innovative products to home cooks. - **Food Industry:** Opportunity for chefs and food manufacturers to create new miniature pancake products for food service. - **Kitchen Appliance Manufacturing:** Opportunity for kitchen appliance manufacturers to develop new hybrid appliances that combine pancake and waffle cooking technology. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Car-Crafting Waffle Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cucinapro.md) - [Mini Waffle Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waffle-bite-maker.md) - [Intricate Golden Bakeware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/honeycomb-loaf-pan.md) - [Toaster-Ready Griddle Pancakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/griddle-pancakes.md) - [Hollow Customizable Waffle Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chefman-big-stuff.md) - [Chocolate Chip Pancake Mixes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-chocolate-chip-pancake-waffle-mix.md) - [Wreath-Shaped Cast-Iron Cookware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holiday-wreath-pan.md) - [Microwavable Mini Pancakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organic-silver-dollar-pancakes.md) - [Candy-Studded Mini Pancakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/funfetti-mini-pancakes.md)
