# Rugged Convertible Computers The Panasonic Toughbook C1 Goes from Tablet to Laptop in Any Weather By Michael Hines | Published 2011-06-29 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panasonic-toughbook-c1 References: [technabob](http://technabob.com/blog/2011/06/27/panasonic-toughbook-c1-laptop/) My laptop is looking pretty weak and girly compared to the new [Panasonic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panasonic-toughbook-g2mk2-and-33mk3) Toughbook C1. Panasonic has given their Toughbook a makeover, letting it instantly go from [tablet to laptop](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/huawei-matebook-fold-ultimate) in a flash. Despite the added flashiness, the Toughbook C1 is still tough, being able to withstand drops from 30 feet and attacks from tigers. The Panasonic Toughbook C1 packs a [spill-proof keyboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blackview-active-12-pro) and a battery with a life of 12 hours. The base model C1 comes with 2GB of RAM that can be pushed up to eight and a 320 GB hard drive. The C1 screen on this device is a little small, 12'1", but when you consider the fact that it also doubles as a tablet, it doesn't seem so bad. Panasonic plans on dropping the Toughbook C1 in July and have decided to price it at a cool $2,599. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Computers](https://www.trendhunter.com/computers) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Rugged Convertible Laptops:** The trend of rugged convertible laptops is growing as businesses require versatile computers that can survive extreme conditions. - **Spill-proof Keyboards and Extended Batteries:** The demand for spill-proof keyboards and extended batteries is rising as people need their devices to last longer without being damaged. - **Tiger-proof Computing:** The unique feature of withstanding attacks from tigers positions rugged laptops as the go-to option for researchers, adventurers, and nature enthusiasts. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Field Services:** Companies offering field services can adopt rugged laptops to streamline their operations, reduce risk of damage, and improve efficiency. - **Military and Defense:** Military and defense organizations can utilize rugged laptops to ensure mission success and safety while operating in harsh environments. - **Outdoor and Adventure:** Outdoor and adventure enthusiasts can benefit from using rugged laptops that can survive extreme weather conditions and possibly even animal attacks. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Durable Field-Ready Tablets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panasonic-toughbook-g2mk2-and-33mk3.md) - [Enhanced Durable Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toughbook-55-1.md) - [Rugged Swappable Module Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/panasonic-toughbook-55-mk3.md) - [Field-Ready Tablet Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/durabook-r8.md) - [Durable Field-Ready Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/getac-x600.md) - [Rugged Field-Ready Tablet Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/durabook-u11.md) - [Advanced Rugged Computer Lineups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rugged-computer.md) - [Projector-Boasting Tablets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rugged-projector-tablets.md) - [Professional Field-Ready Tablets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/durabook-r11l.md)
