The lamp is designed with a targeted illumination unit in the base that emits light upwards and diffuses it via its [palm-like shade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceramic-blossom) in the outer section. This [paper shade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farolito) has a naturalistic design with elements of paper craft and helps to further reinforce the organic form of the illuminator, despite the otherwise metallic construction. The conceptual 'Palmetto' lamp is the design work of Patrick Hartog and is equipped with a dimmer switch to let users adjust the intensity of the illumination. The light is intended to provide ambient illumination that's perfect for a [desktop or side table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/juba-tl1-table-lamp). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 82% | Activity: 66% | Freshness: 13% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Nature-inspired Lighting:** Naturalistic designs of lighting fixtures are becoming increasingly popular to enhance the aesthetics of living spaces. - **Targeted Illumination Units:** Designing lamps with specific illumination units provides enhanced ambient lighting options for specific spaces. - **Paper Craft Lighting:** Paper craft-inspired lampshades are gaining traction among designers to provide organic forms in lighting fixtures. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate nature-inspired lighting fixtures in their projects, giving clients a unique and naturalistic environment. - **Lighting Design:** Lighting designers can innovate and create lamps with targeted illumination units, giving customers better control over their ambient lighting. - **Paper Craft:** The use of paper craft can be expanded to lighting fixtures, creating unique organic shapes and structures for various applications, including in homes and offices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Palm Leaf-Resembling Light Pendants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dniel-mto.md) - [Plant-Based Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plantbased-lamp.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Money Plant-Inspired Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pilea-lamp.md) - [Woven Leaf Lamp Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/catalina-table-lamp.md) - [Posh Paper Craft-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/japandi-lamp.md) - [Bamboo-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-desk-lamp.md) - [Minimalist Museum-Quality Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artifox-table-light.md) - [Mushroom-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humble-lights.md)
