Whether capturing scenic landscapes or the hustle and bustle of city life, Watanabe's works embody a raw and honest quality. The incredibly detailed portraits range from images of busy streets and transit buses to quieter and sublime portraits of a marina filled with boats. Based in Ashiya, Japan, Masato Watanabe transforms a traditional medium with his candid urban imagery. The artist's paintings of Japan capture the country's rural and urban areas and are complex and captivating. The works invite viewers to imagine life within the busy city. Boasting an impeccable amount of detail, these images are not only visually striking but also manage to capture urban dwellers mid-movement -- a detail that adds multiple dimensions to each piece. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 94% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Urban Watercolor Art:** The rise of urban watercolor art presents opportunities for artists to experiment with new ways of depicting the city. - **Realistic Landscape Art:** Realistic landscape art trends are disrupting traditional subjects, creating opportunities to experiment with new forms and mediums. - **Candid Imagery Art:** The popularity of candid imagery art presents an opportunity for artists to captivate viewers by capturing the essence of life in the city. ### Who This Affects Most - **Fine Arts:** The fine arts industry could introduce new mediums and styles, expanding traditional categories. - **Tourism:** The tourism industry could leverage realistic landscape art to entice visitors to picturesque cities and towns. - **Real Estate:** The real estate industry could display candid imagery art to create more engaging and immersive environments in marketing and sales collateral. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Japanese Culture-Honoring Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/watoji.md) - [Bi-Culture-Inspired Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bicultureinspired-art-exhibition.md) - [Vibrant Artistic Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/japonisme-1.md) - [Miniaturized Product Art Photographs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/small-muji.md) - [Manga-Style Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hisashi-eguchi.md) - [Destructive Nature Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/keita-miyazaki.md) - [Drone-Assisted Landscape Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/katsu-1.md) - [Kyoto-Inspired Solo Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ode-to-kyoto.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md)
