Well time seems to elapse when these classic paintings meet Google Street View in this wondrous art project. These collages are the perfect combination of classic art and modern art. British artist Hally Docherty superimposes classic paintings onto pictures of cities from the present day using Google street view. The spliced and fused results are so seamless, it's as if time has stopped being a line and has instead become a circle. Classic figures and structures from the past seem to be freely floating in our reality. Hally is a time-lapsing artistic genius who is becoming known for his collages. Examples of his selected paintings include: Edward Hopper's 'NightHawks,' Jean Beraud's 'La Modish Sur Les Champs-Elysees' and Canaletto's 'A Regatta on the Grand CCanal'. He goes by the name 'shystone' on Reddit. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 15% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Time-elapsing Collages:** Opportunity for artists to combine classic paintings with modern photography, creating a unique form of art that blurs the line between past and present. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art:** Artists can explore new ways of expression by incorporating time-lapsing collages into their works. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Digital City-Inspired Art Works](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grand-central-station.md) - [Iconic Artwork Watch Collaborations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artful-watches.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Generative AI Historical Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-selfie-2.md) - [Traveling Fine Art Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/get-out-there.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [Painting Display Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pointillism.md)
