# Eccentric Colored Portraits The Paintings by Danny O’Connor Use Mixed Media By Sarah Robson | Published 2012-06-12 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paintings-danny-oconnor References: [thisiscolossal](http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2012/06/explosive-mixed-media-paintings-by-danny-oconner/) & [docart.bigcartel](http://docart.bigcartel.com/) The paintings by Danny O’Conner use a variety of vibrant colors and erratic forms, shapes and sizes. The majority of his beautiful graphics are of figurative drawings and portraits that use a combination of media types. He uses a mixture of ink, spray paints and acrylics to create pictures that are exploding with color. His work is full of a random array of odd forms, but the contour of each head shape is easily seen. It is interesting how Danny can use so many media types yet produce equally beautiful pieces of art. Danny O’Connor is a UK-based artist who is influenced by illustrations, graffiti and characters from books and comics. There are ideas for his media paintings to be printed across t-shifts -- I definitely want one. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 72% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Vibrant Mixed Media Art:** Expanding the use of mixed media in art to create vibrant and eclectic pieces with a variety of colors and forms. - **Figurative Portrait Drawings:** Utilizing a combination of media types to create figurative drawings and portraits that showcase unique and intriguing forms. - **Influenced by Illustrations and Graffiti:** Drawing inspiration from illustrations, graffiti, and characters in books and comics to produce visually captivating artwork. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art & Design:** Exploring new techniques and materials in the art and design industry to create innovative and visually stunning pieces. - **Fashion & Apparel:** Introducing mixed media artwork onto t-shirts and other apparel items to provide unique and eye-catching designs. - **Publishing & Media:** Collaborating with illustrators and artists to create visually captivating covers and artwork for books, comics, and magazines. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Leftover Househouse Paint Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-drop.md) - [3D-Printed Colorful Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olivier-van-herpt-1.md) - [Playful Doodle-Emblazoned Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sam-cox.md) - [Miniature Artful Hip-Hop Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/danny-cortes.md) - [Travel-Inspired Canvas Paintings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-passport-series.md) - [Stylized Portrait Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/face-to-all.md) - [Eye-Catching Textile Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peter-saville-1.md) - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [Oil Painting-Inspired Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antonio-santn.md)
