# Paint Swatch Installations Madiha Siraj's Paint Swatch Art Mimics the Look of Thousands of Pixels By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2014-10-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-swatch-art References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/paint-swatch-installations-madiha-siraj/) & [madihasiraj](http://www.madihasiraj.com/) Rather than applying actual paint to a wall, this [paint swatch art installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yellow-25) from Madiha Siraj makes use of thousands of paper paint squares instead. Although these paint swatches are made to be used in the process of helping you [pick out a paint color](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swatchme), in this installation, the paint chips become what adorns the walls. Although the premise of the art installation is the same, different versions like the Oyster EB-124 and Oyster EB-12 feature slightly different ways of breaking up the physical space with barriers. Due to the small, square and colorful makeup of the paint chips, the installation looks as though it has been made up of [thousands of pixels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pointillism) rather than pieces of paper. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Paper Paint Squares:** Exploring the use of paper paint squares as an alternative to actual paint for art installations. - **Pixel Art Installations:** Creating art installations that mimic the look of pixels using paint swatches. - **Alternative Wall Decor:** Using unconventional materials like paint swatches to adorn walls and create unique visual experiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Design:** Opportunity for artists and designers to experiment with alternative materials and techniques in creating installations. - **Home Decor:** Exploring new ways to decorate walls and create visually appealing environments, using non-traditional materials like paint swatches. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating innovative wall decor techniques, such as paint swatch installations, to add depth and creativity to interior spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Colorful Retro Pixel Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-mirror.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Colorful Texture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorscape-installation.md) - [immersive artful bright installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chroma-installation.md) - [Mural Design Assistants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-by-squares.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Textured Cast Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-scad.md) - [Graphic Wallpaper Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immersive-surfaces.md) - [Screen-Printed Chocolate Tiled Rooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chocolate-room-1.md)
