The series celebrates the foundation and raises awareness for the building from when it first opened in 1933. It was meant to be a 'medical instrument' to care for patients with tuberculosis. Every single design detail was focused on the needs of their recovery. Aino and Alvar Aaltos created the [iconic furniture design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/norman-foster2) for the hospital and followed it with a series of colors. Armchair 41 was first designed in 1932 for the sanatorium and was originally known as the Paimio Armchair. It is a light and organic shape that helps patients breathe -- it is also made from bent birch wood and lamella.
