Looking at the former, you'll note the [squat roundness](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bun-bun-chair) of an owl and that the latter is [long and leggy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dgc-1) like a bird. Designed by Canadian designer and woodworker Shawn Place, the Owl and Bird Chairs were exhibited during the Interior Design Show 2011 in Toronto. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 12% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Animal-inspired Furniture:** Designing furniture that resembles animals creates a unique and eye-catching aesthetic. - **Nature-inspired Design:** Taking inspiration from nature can lead to innovative and interesting product designs. - **Playful Furniture:** Furniture that evokes animal characteristics can bring a sense of playfulness and whimsy to any space. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Animal-inspired furniture can be a valuable addition to interior design projects, adding a touch of personality and uniqueness to spaces. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can explore the production of animal-inspired furniture as a way to tap into the growing demand for unique and visually appealing pieces. - **Home Decor Retail:** Retailers specializing in home decor can benefit from offering animal-inspired furniture as a niche product category that targets consumers seeking distinctive and conversation-starting pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Avian-Inspired Privacy Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/peacock-chair-concept.md) - [Sea Creature-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seat-urchin.md) - [Posh Pet-Friendly Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quella-chair.md) - [Artfully Balanced Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halfway-serious.md) - [Cubic Featherlight Seat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/please-hold-up-chair.md) - [Ultra-Comfy Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushy-lounge-chair.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Insect-Like Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-mantis-chair.md) - [Nature-Inspired Minimal Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capture-the-light.md)
