The Italian robotics firm Oversonic Robotics has entered into a supply arrangement with the multinational semiconductor corporation STMicroelectronics, marking a notable commercial adoption of humanoid automation within the high-tech manufacturing sector. The agreement involves deploying customized versions of Oversonic Robotics' RoBee robot — a dual-purpose platform previously certified for both industrial and healthcare environments — into multiple global semiconductor production facilities operated by STMicroelectronics.

This initiative represents a significant practical step beyond experimental or small-scale applications, as these machines are increasingly integrated into complex fabrication and logistics workflows with the stated goals of enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring product quality, and improving workplace safety.

A collaborative demo of what the agreement between Oversonic Robotics and STMicroelectronics entails will be showcased during the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
