Sofa is designed to offer furniture that incorporates the natural environment into the design by utilizing the soft and plush texture of overgrown [moss](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moss-humidifier-concept) as the cover for the couch. The armchair can be ordered as a kit that allows home owners to grow their very own sofa in their backyards or gardens. The kit for the TERRA! Sofa contains a specially built [cardboard frame](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acordion-modular-sofa) that acts as the structure for the moveable. The couch comes flat-packed and can be put together by slotting the various cardboard units into one another to render the moveable three dimensional. From there, the frame is covered in soil and grass seeds and left to grow. The armchair requires constant watering to remain lush and green, while it provides a comfortable place to lounge. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 82% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Eco-friendly Furniture:** Opportunity for furniture companies to create sustainable and nature-inspired designs using organic materials like overgrown moss. - **Gardening Home Decor:** Opportunity for home decor retailers to offer products that allow homeowners to incorporate plants and nature into their interior design. - **DIY Green Living:** Opportunity for DIY enthusiasts to embrace sustainable practices by growing and constructing their own furniture pieces using natural materials. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** Opportunity for furniture manufacturers to explore sustainable and eco-friendly designs using organic materials like overgrown moss. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for home decor retailers to cater to the growing demand for nature-themed products by offering gardening-inspired furniture and accessories. - **DIY:** Opportunity for DIY retailers to tap into the eco-conscious consumer market by providing DIY kits for growing and assembling sustainable furniture pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sprouting Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-chair-on-grass.md) - [Terrarium Stool Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wild-stool.md) - [Living Plant DIY Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-hideaway.md) - [Envelope-Packaged Couch Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/couch-in-an-envelope.md) - [Natural Moss Terrariums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petite-foret-plus.md) - [Squishy Clay-Made Daybeds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-soil-daybed.md) - [Plush Sculptural Lounge Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rokko.md) - [Grow-at-Home Sponge Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sponge-furniture.md) - [Plant-Based Dynamic Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chiachair.md)
