# Connected Outlet Adapters The 'Switcheroo' Sends and Receives Signals from One Another By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2017-01-10 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outlet-adapter References: [geeky-gadgets](http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/switcheroo-adapter-10-01-2017/) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/neilson/switcheroo-lighting-made-easy) The 'Switcheroo' is an outlet adapter that enables users to customize the outlets in a given room without having to deal with extension cords or other means of splicing the power. Outlets that are controlled via a light switch on the wall are great for turning the power on and off, but can be frustrating if this functionality is linked to an outlet that isn't desired. As such, the 'Switcheroo' works to help wirelessly send signals to receivers in order to make it possible to send this signal to activate these outlets as well. This is done without the need for Bluetooth or WiFi and works similarly to a garage door opener to keep the design of the outlet adapter as simple and useful as possible. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Wireless Outlet Control:** The 'Switcheroo' demonstrates a trend towards wirelessly controlling outlets, eliminating the need for extension cords or splicing power. - **Signal Activation Technology:** The 'Switcheroo' showcases a trend of using signal activation technology to enable customized control of outlets. - **Simplifying Outlet Adapters:** The 'Switcheroo' exemplifies a trend of creating simple and user-friendly outlet adapters. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Automation:** The 'Switcheroo' has disruptive innovation opportunities in the home automation industry, allowing for enhanced control of outlets. - **Electrical Accessories:** The 'Switcheroo' presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the electrical accessories industry by offering a new approach to outlet control. - **Smart Home Technology:** The 'Switcheroo' aligns with disruptive innovation opportunities in the smart home technology industry, providing a wireless solution for controlling outlets. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rotating Outlet Power Bars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oconnect-onestep.md) - [Modular Power Hubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-power-strip-1.md) - [Aftermarket Home Automation Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-home-automation-switch.md) - [Power Station Outlet Adapters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anker-powerextend-usbc-plug.md) - [Light Switch-Upgrading Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evvr-inwall-relay-smart-light-switch.md) - [Socket-Concealing Light Switches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/l1-switch-system.md) - [Smart Rgb Power Outlets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/invisoutlet-aura.md) - [Energy-Saving Smart Outlets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-outlet-h2.md) - [Surge Protector Outlet Extendors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-plug-outlet-extender.md)
