# Artistic Outdoor Urinals This Marble Wall is an Outdoor Urinal and Temporary Art Piece By Christopher Magsambol | Published 2015-08-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-urinal References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2015/08/18/bureau-a-fountain-2017-pink-marble-urinal-pissoir-zurich-car-park/) & [artcontainer.ch](http://artcontainer.ch/wp/) Guests at a Zurich car show no longer have to worry about finding the nearest washroom thanks to the event's [outdoor urinal](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airpot) installation. Upon first glance, the structure looks nothing like an outdoor washroom -- the urinal is a large slab of [pink marble](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piano-washbasin) that is placed in the middle of a parking lot. The odd sculpture collects the incoming urine and immediately redirects it into a pothole filled with gravel and small plants. Interestingly, the parking lot is situated on a historic, ancient common and the addition of this urinal reinvents this area as a shared space. The urinal doubles as an [art sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pure-exhibition) and contributes to the site's art container project. The purpose of the project is to support art through non-commercial and independent venues. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 31% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Artistic Outdoor Urinals:** Creating outdoor urinals that double as art installations allows for more creative and visually appealing public washrooms. - **Shared Space Reinvention:** Transforming urban spaces, such as parking lots, into shared spaces with unique features like urinal sculptures fosters community engagement and revitalization. - **Art Container Projects:** Supporting non-commercial and independent art venues through initiatives like the art container project brings art directly to public spaces and encourages artistic expression. ### Who This Affects Most - **Event Planning and Venues:** Incorporating artistic outdoor urinals as part of event installations can enhance guest experiences and provide a unique selling point for event planners. - **Urban Development and Revitalization:** Exploring the concept of shared spaces and incorporating creative features like urinal sculptures can contribute to the revitalization of urban areas and attract more visitors. - **Art and Cultural Organizations:** Partnering with initiatives like the art container project allows art and cultural organizations to showcase innovative art installations in public spaces and support independent artists. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Illuminated Public Artful Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroo-east-park.md) - [Artfully Sculptured Textured Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-formation-02.md) - [Brutalist Smart Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/formation-02.md) - [Amorphous Public Restrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/amoeba-public-restroom.md) - [Luxury Mobile Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-mobile-toilet.md) - [Enclosed Japanese Park Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toiletowa.md) - [Monochromatic Sculptural Gateways](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-gateway.md) - [Water Connection Architectural Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquatecture.md) - [Light-Filled Public Restrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vivid-toilet-interior.md)
