# Frolicking Outdoor Feline Photography Seiji Mamiya Created a Unique Set of Outdoor Cat Photos By Megan Facciuolo | Published 2014-03-19 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-cat-photos References: [designtaxi](http://designtaxi.com/news/364507/Japanese-Photographer-Captures-Expressive-Photos-Of-Cats-Playing-Under-The-Sun/) & [500px](http://500px.com/natusame_eos) This collection of [outdoor cat photos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personality-pics) proves that our [feline friends](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whisker-tracker) do much more than sleep 20 hours of the day. Japanese photographer Seiji Mamiya shoots his feline subjects prancing around in beautiful scenes of sunlight. The pictures are extremely expressive of each cat's personality -- it's something I haven't seen captured ever before. As they interact with nature and one another, they leap mid-air, bask in the warm sun and run around in the fields. Seiji captions many of these photos to coincide with what he believes the cats are thinking; for example, an image of a cat leaping in the air with his front paws up over it's head is captioned "FREEEDOM." These images became so popular that the photographer has even published a [book](http://www.kinokuniya.com/us/index.php/fbs003?common_param=9784847091988) of them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/pets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Outdoor Cat Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new techniques to capture expressive outdoor cat photos and cater to the growing demand for unique pet photography. - **Expressive Animal Portraits:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore creative ways to capture the personalities of animals through expressive portraits, opening new avenues in the photography industry. - **Natural Interactions with Animals:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create immersive experiences that allow people to interact with animals in natural settings, revolutionizing the concept of animal-centered entertainment. ### Where This Applies - **Pet Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative services and techniques for capturing unique and expressive pet photos, catering to the growing demand for personalized pet portraits. - **Publishing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the market for niche photography books, focusing on unique themes like outdoor cat photography to attract a niche audience. - **Animal Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create interactive experiences that allow people to engage with animals in natural environments, transforming the traditional animal entertainment industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Cat Illustrations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/open-meow.md) - [Feline-Focused Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-tree-house-1.md) - [Cat-Catered Large Japanese Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-cat-tree-house.md) - [Vertical Feline Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-tree-house-2.md) - [Humorous Cat Collectables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tired-cats-gachapon.md) - [Big-Screen Cat Ads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inaba.md) - [Cat-Friendly Conceptual Playful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neko-yama.md) - [Contemporary Cat Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Cat-Furniture-1.md) - [Playful Billboard Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreamies-treats.md)
