The impressive [animated waterfall](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aqua-gallery) can be found in the South Gate Building of Japan's largest mall, and is definitely an upgrade from the [standard digital clock display](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crydal-scroll-clock) found in most public shopping centers. Showing not only the time, but also a variety of patterns and designs, onlookers are in for a treat when walking by this water-spouting installation. Using H2O and a series of lighting effects, the wall of the South Gate Building is transformed into a magical animated display. After seeing this video of the Osaka Station City fountain, I can't help but hope for similar [waterfall installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transposition-installtion) to pop up in cities around the world! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 82% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Interactive Water Features:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating interactive water features that combine technology, design, and water to create captivating visual displays. - **Alternative Time Displays:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing alternative ways to display time in public spaces, moving away from traditional digital clocks to more creative and visually appealing installations. - **Expanding Public Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Expanding the use of public art installations to create unique and memorable experiences in urban environments. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture and Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborating with artists, designers, and architects to create innovative water-based installations in public spaces. - **Entertainment and Tourism:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporating interactive water features and alternative time displays to attract tourists and enhance visitor experiences in entertainment venues and tourist destinations. - **Technology and Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Partnering with technology and lighting companies to develop advanced systems for creating captivating water-based displays. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stone-Stacked Dynamic Fountains](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vondel-fountain.md) - [Vibrant Public London Fountains](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neon-1.md) - [Modern Interior Water Fountains](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bower-studios-pivot-fountain-limited-edition.md) - [Multicolored Jewelry Stores](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swarovski-launches.md) - [Embassy Wait-Representing Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/water-clock-installation.md) - [Cultural Waterfront Festivals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waterfall-festival.md) - [Modern Civic-Inspired Fountains](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-fountain.md) - [Peace-Inspired Waterfall Installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transposition-installtion.md) - [Vibrant Inclusive Playground Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/falling-into-place.md)
