Tree shaping is the little-known art of growing trees and shaping their branches in designs and silhouettes that were not intended by Mother Nature. The practice is really an amalgam of art and gardening. Tree shaping is, according to [Wikipedia,](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tree_shaping) "a art and technique of growing and shaping trunks, branches and roots of trees and other woody plants." Among the different basic shaped trees, we can see plenty of pretzels, living furniture, and a number of nondescript but very artistic designs. My favorite among these amazing trees, is the group of trees with the green top which are fashioned in the form of a group of houses. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 66% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [DIY](https://www.trendhunter.com/diy) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Tree Shaping Art:** The practice opens up opportunities for artisans to create unique living sculptures. - **Living Furniture:** This trend presents innovate opportunities for furniture makers to incorporate living plants in their designs. - **Sustainability:** The practice can potentially create sustainable living spaces with minimum environmental harm. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Landscaping:** Tree shaping provides a new way for landscapers to design outdoor spaces. - **Art:** The practice opens opportunities for artists to create unique and sustainable living sculptures. - **Furniture Design:** This trend presents innovative opportunities for furniture designers to create living pieces of furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Living Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treevive.md) - [Beeswax Sculptural Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/greentree.md) - [Organic Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roots-collection-1.md) - [Tree-Intertwined Metal Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tenir-bench.md) - [Sprouting Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-chair-on-grass.md) - [Air-Purifying Tree Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treeone.md) - [Tree-Based Material Products](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abney-effect.md) - [Hidden Garden Timber Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-room-around-a-tree.md) - [Vaulted Structural Telescopic Treehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistree-home.md)
