# Adaptable Domestic Receptacles Orisort Containers Provide Both Storage and Seating in Small Spaces By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-07-13 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orisort References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Orisort/3003241) The Orisort system would make life a lot easier come garbage pickup day each week. The set of [cylindrical bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trash-receptacles) was designed to collect different types of trash in an organized manner, encouraging you to separate glass, plastic, paper and general waste. Much like the flaps found on some [public garbage cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/design-seoul-20), Anders Lilleby's receptacles are fitted with rubber covers with item-specific slits, ultimately designed to conceal the containers' contents and to keep smells from escaping. The two kinds of openings are cross-shaped for bottles and zigzagged for cardboard cartons and general rubbish. There are two sizes of Orisort bins, a tall and a short. But besides their streamlined looks and their order-inspiring philosophies, Orisort drums double as stools when extra seating is required in the kitchen. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Organized Waste Management:** The Orisort system encourages users to separate different types of trash, presenting an opportunity for innovative waste management solutions. - **Concealed Container Design:** The rubber covers with item-specific slits on the Orisort receptacles offer a potential for disruptive innovations in concealment and odor control. - **Multi-purpose Furniture:** The Orisort drums doubling as stools highlights the trend for dual-functionality furniture in small spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Waste Management:** The Orisort system's emphasis on organized waste collection creates opportunities for technology and software innovations in the waste management industry. - **Product Design:** The unique design of the Orisort containers, with their concealed covers and multi-functional use, presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the product design industry. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The combination of storage containers and stools in the Orisort system opens up possibilities for innovative furniture designs in the manufacturing industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Organization Garbage Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-garbage-bins.md) - [Customizable Garbage Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/totem-compact-unit.md) - [Versatile Egg-Shaped Waste Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nextgen-waste-bin.md) - [Rodent-Preventative Trash Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/group-project.md) - [Adaptable Organizer Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-square-organizer.md) - [Tipping Trash Can Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/niko-trash-bin.md) - [Chic Utilitarian Trash Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carden-the-twin.md) - [AI-Enabled Recycling Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartsort.md) - [AI-Powered Recycling Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/binko-recycling-machine.md)
