# Reclaimed Courtside Desks The Origin Workstation Brings the Gym to the Office By Matt Ho | Published 2011-09-14 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origin-workstation References: [theawesomer](http://theawesomer.com/the-origin-workstation/123890/) & [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/80028739/the-origin) It's rare to see a clean gym floor ridden of sneaker marks, but the Origin Workstation by Mirato avoids these pesky streaks. [Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sustainable-christmas-tree-alternative) design firm Mirato constructed the Origin Workstation to bring back the days of gym class. The counter is made from 100% reclaimed gym floors that have been given a polished look after receiving a ton of abuse from sneakers running scraping the surface daily. All the sport lines remain and at 4' x 10', this is a great size that can easily fit four people in without feeling crowded. Mirato also promises that [wiring containment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corsair-platform4-desk) can be configured onto the table, which means tangled cables will not be an issue for users of the Origin Workstation. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Reclaimed Materials:** Using reclaimed materials for furniture design offers a sustainable and unique approach. - **Retro-inspired Design:** Designs that bring back nostalgic elements from the past create a sense of nostalgia and uniqueness. - **Workspace Optimization:** Optimizing workspace design to accommodate multiple users and provide functionality promotes collaboration and productivity. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Incorporating reclaimed materials in furniture design opens up opportunities for eco-friendly and innovative products. - **Interior Design:** Retro-inspired designs can be incorporated into interior design to create visually striking and unique spaces. - **Office Furniture:** Workspace optimization solutions for office furniture can enhance productivity and create a more efficient work environment. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Monochromatic Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arqus-desk.md) - [Hyper-Customizable Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hypercustomizable-desk.md) - [Sleek Storage-Packed Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/threesix-desk.md) - [Standing Desk Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/standing-desk-workstations.md) - [Multifunctional Standing Work Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boundary-desk-1.md) - [Single-Piece Construction Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nook-desk.md) - [Customizable Tech Brand Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corsair-platform6.md) - [Employee Personalization Workstation Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zedo-desk.md) - [Minimalist Storage-Paired Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diag-desk.md)
