# Streaming Sinks The Origin Washstand Uses Rocks to Stop Water Flow By Rachel | Published 2009-07-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origin-washstand-sink References: [core77](http://www.core77.com/blog/object_culture/this_sink_rocks_13977.asp) & [designnothing](http://designnothing.com/sub_02.html) Designer Jin-Woog Koo has certainly found a way to slow down our daily bathroom routine. The Origin Washstand is made to resemble a [babbling brook](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vondel-fountain), and the water is only stopped by the placement of a rock. The design by Jun-Woog Koo is definitely a departure from [standard sink design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-kitchen), with a stream that runs from the [water source](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aqua-gallery) to the basin. While it’s an interesting and zen-like design, I have some concerns regarding water temperature and pressure. Maybe when you’re in a state of zen, you don’t care if your water is freezing cold. Either way, take a look at this interesting sink design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Zen-inspired Design:** Opportunity for creating bathroom products that promote relaxation and mindfulness through nature-inspired design, such as sinks that mimic babbling brooks. - **Sustainable Materials:** Opportunity to explore the use of eco-friendly materials in sink manufacturing, taking inspiration from the use of rocks in water flow control. - **Interactive Fixtures:** Opportunity to incorporate interactive elements in bathroom fixtures, allowing users to have a more engaging and customizable experience. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Bathroom Fixtures:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in the bathroom fixture industry by creating unique and nature-inspired products like the Origin Washstand. - **Home Decor:** The concept of zen-inspired design in bathroom fixtures can be extended to the broader home decor industry, offering a cohesive and calming design aesthetic. - **Sustainable Manufacturing:** Sustainable materials used in the Origin Washstand can inspire disruptive innovation in the manufacturing industry, promoting eco-conscious practices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Water Flow-Inspired Kiln Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-collection.md) - [Textural Bathroom Sink Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/washbasin-collection.md) - [Dynamic Marble Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinito.md) - [Outdoor Water Sink Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waterworks.md) - [Marble Slab Washbasins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piano-washbasin.md) - [Collaborative Seashell-Like Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spire-washbasin.md) - [Electric Kiln-Made Unique Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-1.md) - [Ultra-Modern Freestanding Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freestanding-sink.md) - [Reinventive Modern Kitchen Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/luxury-kitchen.md)
