Because of the way Sykes combines technology and nature, it is an example of 21st Century ‘high-tech/high touch’ design. The [self-articulating landscape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/radius-transformation-pavilion) uses hydrodynamics, motors and growth patterns to systematically redefine a structure of [octagonal vegetative mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany). A hinge-mounted motor drives the octagonal [origami-inspired form](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-series). The landscape works in concert with an artificial Cumulonimbus cloud that also changes over time, another allusion to the origami fortune-telling toy that appears to have been the muse for the project. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 94% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **High-tech/high-touch Design:** Eddy Sykes' 'Yakuza Lou' exemplifies the trend of combining technology and nature to create self-articulating landscapes. - **Hydrodynamic Landscapes:** The use of hydrodynamics, motors and growth patterns in 'Yakuza Lou' presents disruptive innovation opportunities for designing eco-friendly and efficient landscapes. - **Origami-inspired Architecture:** The origami-inspired form and moving installation of 'Yakuza Lou' offers innovative possibilities for transforming building structures with adaptable and artistic designs. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** The design techniques used in 'Yakuza Lou' have the potential to revolutionize the architecture industry with new sustainable and artistic approaches. - **Landscape Design:** The hydrodynamic and origami-inspired design elements in 'Yakuza Lou' can inspire new landscape designs that incorporate ecology and aesthetics for various settings. - **Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics:** The hinge-mounted motor driving the moving landscape in 'Yakuza Lou' highlights how AI and robotics can be integrated to create innovative and interactive design experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Monumental Air Installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iwagumi-air-scape.md) - [Seasonal Interactive Fashion Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/washi-paper.md) - [Origami-Inspired Sleek Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinity-mobile-architecture-system.md) - [Kinetic Interaction Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transmutation-observatory.md) - [Sound-Interactive Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arborhythm.md) - [Kumiko Craft Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timevase.md) - [Billowing Modular Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curly-cube.md) - [Sculpted Oak Grove Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lj-residence.md) - [Organic Striking Tower Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-leaves.md)
