The Organelle is an extremely fascinating and unabashedly peculiar musical instrument that is brought to you from the studios and tinkerers of the Brooklyn-based worship of Critter & Guitari. This particular box is based on the colorful wood-and-metal design that Critter & Guitari is known for. The instrument is completely programmable, so you can set it up in such a way that its beautiful lacquered keys make any sound that you want it to make.

You could label the Organelle as a musical instrument or indeed a computer for playing music, because it is powered by an RM Cortex A9 processor that is powered by [Linux](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linux-foundations-newton). It supports patches written for the Pure Data open source music programming environment.

This device treads the fine line between [musical instrument and computer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mecha-comet), and opens up a whole variety of possibilities.
