# Pierced Sphere Illuminators ORB Lamp by Creative Pill Embodies an Eccentric But Intelligent Design By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-04-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orb-lamp-by-creative-pill References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/04/05/light/) & [creativepill](http://www.creativepill.com/what) The look of the ORB Lamp by [Creative Pill Design Studio](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-living) is certainly alien to the conventional types of straight stands and lampshades. This fact, however, does not guarantee that this piece will be any less effective than the common sort; take a look and you'll realize that this product might be a great deal more practical. The [globe-shaped source of luminescence](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-glow-light) emits light in all directions, softened and diffused by the frosted finish of the glass. This sphere is made up of two semi-spherical halves that fit seamlessly together and come apart easily when access is needed to the lightbulb. The three spikes that act as the frame of the tall and short versions of the ORB Lamp by Creative Pill have been manufactured in aluminum to be identical. They pass right through the glowing ball, poke out of the top and can serve a second function as a magazine rack, a hatrack and a coatrack. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 21% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Unique Lighting Designs:** The unconventional design of the ORB Lamp presents opportunities for creating unique lighting products that stand out in the market. - **Modular Lighting:** The ORB Lamp's modular design, with its easily detachable halves, opens up possibilities for customizable and adaptable lighting solutions. - **Dual-function Furniture:** The incorporation of magazine rack, hatrack, and coatrack features in the ORB Lamp highlights the potential for dual-function furniture designs. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** The unique and practical design of the ORB Lamp offers opportunities for interior designers to incorporate innovative lighting solutions in their projects. - **Home Furnishings:** The ORB Lamp's modular nature and dual-function features open doors for home furnishing companies to create versatile and multifunctional lighting options. - **Product Design:** The ORB Lamp serves as inspiration for product designers to explore unconventional shapes and functionalities in their lighting designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Planetary Dual-Illumination Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbis-lamp.md) - [3D-Printed Mood Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbyt.md) - [Childhood-Inspired Magnetic Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbe.md) - [Removable Head Portable Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lexon-orbe.md) - [Geometric Industrial Desktop Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-lamp.md) - [Eclipse-Inspired Whimsical Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-traveler.md) - [Horizontal Glass Sphere Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comet-pendant.md) - [Hat-Like Fabric Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-lamp.md) - [Cutesy Coiled Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-helix-lamp.md)
