# Theatrical Hearths Sebastian Errazuriz's Opera Fireplace Features Mini Flammable Actors By Meghan Young | Published 2011-07-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/opera-fireplace References: [mocoloco](http://mocoloco.com/archives/024100.php) & [meetsebastian](http://meetsebastian.com/) The Opera Fireplace is definitely a masterpiece. Part art installation and part functional fireplace, it was inspired by the idea that [fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fireplace-designs) have a strong resemblance to [theatrical stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/opera-and-ballet-theatre-of-kosovo). Conceived and created by Sebastian Errazuriz, the Opera Fireplace was hand carved out of 600 pounds of [Italian marble](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terra-frammenti) complete with its curtains, stage, floorboards and stairs made of wood. A limited-edition creation, the Opera Fireplace can be fitted into any home. Each one comes with a set of wooden 'actors' hand-carved out of logs of maple as well as a wood backstage structure. Although devastating to think about, the actors are supposed to go up in flames in the Opera Fireplace. Thankfully, replacement actors can be ordered. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Theatrical Fireplaces:** Expanding on the concept of fireplaces as theatrical stages to create functional art installations. - **Customizable Home Décor:** Offering limited-edition, bespoke artistic creations to personalize and elevate the decor of any home. - **Eco-friendly Design:** Exploring the use of sustainable materials and innovative design concepts to create functional art pieces that minimize environmental impact. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Furnishings:** Potential for artistic, customizable fireplaces and other furnishings that seamlessly blend form and function to create unique living spaces. - **Art and Design:** Opportunities for artists and designers to explore new materials and creative concepts through functional art installations and limited-edition creations. - **Woodworking and Timber:** Innovative use of wood as a sustainable material in artistic creations, with a potential for the development of new products and concepts in the woodworking and timber industries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cooking-Friendly Outdoor Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/regg-surprise.md) - [Mixed-Material Tabletop Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brasscene-harmony-flame-fireplace.md) - [Communal Fireplace Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hearth-coffee-table.md) - [Slick Modern Holographic Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holographic-fireplace.md) - [Portable Cylindrical Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecosmart-fire-pillar-3t.md) - [Convenient Personal Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personal-fireplace1.md) - [Eco-Friendly Bioethanol Fireplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glammfire-contour.md) - [Minimal Sculptural Fire Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prometheo-uno.md) - [Unusual Fireplace Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorchanging-fireplace-color-cones.md)
