# Collapsible Bathing Stalls Tuck Away the Walls of the OpenSpace Shower by Duravit Between Uses By Summer Luu | Published 2011-03-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/openspace-shower-by-duravit References: [dornob](http://dornob.com/flat-folding-shower-frees-up-space-in-compact-bathrooms/) & [duravit](http://www.duravit.com/website/homepage/products/product_overview/series/openspace.com-en.html) The OpenSpace Shower by [Duravit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bento-starck-box) is perfect for people who need to save a lot of space in their [compact bathrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archiplan-compact-basin-collection). The innovative design lets you fold away the walls of this stand-up shower. Basically, the frame swings back when the OpenSpace Shower is not in use, allowing it to lay flat against the washroom's walls. Within the frame, you can choose from having translucent doors or one with a mirror on the side. When these doors are pushed back, they automatically conceal the tap and [shower head](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antoniolupi-tubo), allowing the small bathroom to look much bigger and providing a lot more room. Indeed, the OpenSpace Shower by Duravit provides a lot more *open space* in its clever, convenient and contemporary design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Collapsible Bathrooms:** Innovative collapsible bathroom designs could revolutionize small living spaces. - **Space-saving Furniture:** Furniture that can be easily compacted or folded away could appeal to urban dwellers. - **Smart Materials:** Developing materials that can fold or collapse without breaking could be a game-changer for many industries. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Bathroom Fixtures:** Bathroom fixture manufacturers could lead the charge in developing collapsible and space-saving designs. - **Furniture:** Furniture manufacturers could invest more in creating space-saving items that cater to smaller living spaces. - **Materials Science:** Materials scientists could explore how to create stronger and more flexible materials that can be easily folded or collapsed. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Removable Bathtub Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathtrope.md) - [Accessible Shower Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/accessible-showers.md) - [Malleable Removable Bathtubs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathtope.md) - [Closed-Loop Bathing Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/upfall-shower.md) - [Utility-Focused Bathroom Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/showdown-system.md) - [Water-Saving Bathroom Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bergvattnet.md) - [Water-Saving Shower Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alu.md) - [Modern Modular Shower Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-spot.md) - [Pressure-Sensitive Shower Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-shower-concept.md)
