Touted as the world's smallest audio mixer, the Openmix crams a tiny audio cross-fader into a case not a whole lot bigger than an [iPod](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ipod-classic-iphone-17-case) shuffle. It allows users to smoothly mix tracks from any audio source equipped with output jacks, such as laptops, tablets, smartphones and MP3 players. Using the device is as simple as plugging in, hitting play and mixing. The setup is incredibly simple and doesn't require a massive instruction manual. The developer of the Openmix has taken to [Kickstarter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-portable-sound-system) to raise funds to bring the [miniature audio mixer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ka15-usb-dac) to production. A minimum pledge of $29 will secure you a 1.5 x 2 x 9.6 inch plastic black-and-blue Openmix in January 2015 if the product hits its fundraising goal. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 46% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Portable Audio Mixers:** The Openmix Mini Audio Mixer offers a portable solution for DJs and music enthusiasts. - **Miniaturization of Technology:** The Openmix showcases the trend of miniaturization in audio mixers, providing a compact and convenient option. - **Simplified Mixing Devices:** The Openmix demonstrates the trend of user-friendly and easy-to-use mixing devices for beginners and amateurs. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Music Production:** The Openmix Mini Audio Mixer presents an innovative opportunity for the music production industry to cater to portable mixing solutions. - **Consumer Electronics:** The Miniature Audio Mixer contributes to the consumer electronics industry with its compact and convenient mixing device. - **Crowdfunding:** The Openmix Kickstarter campaign highlights the potential disruptive innovation in the crowdfunding industry by supporting innovative tech products like mini audio mixers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Affordable Audio Engineer Mixers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roland-gomixer-studio.md) - [Compact Podcast Mixers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rodecaster-duo.md) - [Modular Portable Sound Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-portable-sound-system.md) - [Portable Miniature Music Studios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tracker-mini.md) - [Portable Miniature Soundboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seqtrak.md) - [AI-Fueled Music Mixer Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/happy-music-mixer-07.md) - [Remote Audio Controls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soundmixer.md) - [Dedicated Streamer Audio Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hyperx-audio-mixer.md) - [Consolidated DJ Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dj-systems.md)
