# Hi-Tech Sliding Reflectors The Open Mirror by Digital Habit(s) Has a Dock for iPhones By Meghan Young | Published 2012-06-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/open-mirror References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/open-mirror-by-digital-habits/) & [habits.it](http://www.habits.it/) The Open Mirror may look like a traditional oval mirror, but it boasts a simple tweak that takes it from ordinary to extraordinary. It might not tell the person using it if they are the fairest one of all, but it will play their favorite music and provide some extra light to boot. Created by Italian design studio [Digital Habit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-house)(s), which was founded by Diego Rossi and Innocenzo Rifino, the Open Mirror docking station for both the [iPhone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sabine-marcelis-1) and [iPod](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ipod-wallpapers). The dock is revealed with the bottom portion of the Open Mirror is slid to the side, creating a slim shelf. Controlled by hand movements, it allows people to use it even when they have wet hands. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 71% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Smart Home Mirrors:** Technology-enabled mirrors that offer additional features such as music playback and lighting. - **Integrated Device Docking:** Designing everyday objects to have a built-in dock for mobile devices. - **Gesture-controlled Devices:** Functionality of devices controlled by hand movements without the need to physically touch the device. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Innovation opportunities in the home decor industry through technology-enabled products. - **Consumer Electronics:** Disruptive innovations in the consumer electronics industry through the integration of device docks in everyday objects. - **Electrical Equipment:** Development of gesture-controlled devices in the electrical equipment industry to enhance user experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Nostalgic Music-Inspired Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/imirror.md) - [Mental-Health Smart Mirror Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mio-smart-mirror.md) - [Optical Illusion Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hooptical.md) - [Dual-Use Smart Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thin-cast-smart-mirror.md) - [Shifting Orientation Smartphone Docks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartphone-stand-charger.md) - [Voice-Activated Acoustic Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sound-mirror.md) - [Smart Health Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/withings-omnia.md) - [Bifold Functional Storage Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabine-mirror.md) - [Mirrored Sculpture Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sabine-marcelis-1.md)
