KARO Architects designed the open air library to be a functioning public area existing for all hours of the day. There is not registration and community members can come whenever they want to borrow a book. KARO re-used a [modernist facade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/far-rockaway-library) that belonged to an old warehouse building (which was torn down in 2007) giving the design for the open air library an eco-friendly twist.
