# Stony Glow-in-the-Dark Globes The Geological-Looking Oooglow Lamp Takes on a Planetary Appearance By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oooglow References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/product/2014/01/Oooglow.html) & [caad.arch.ethz.ch](http://www.caad.arch.ethz.ch/blog/manuel-kretzer/) During the day, the Oooglow Lamp wouldn't prove to be an overly obvious feature in your home; its subtlety is due to its [organic shape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp), its sculptural modesty and its pale coloring. Turn all of the lights off, however, and suddenly this light fixture becomes the focal point -- and the only thing visible -- in the room. The [beautiful and crudely shaped capsule](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alherd) looks like a jagged precious stone, but this has actually been made from [phosphorescent polyester resin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nola-lamp). A bright LED light fixture is installed in the core of Manuel Kretzer's contemporary creation, affecting but not overheating the plastic. When dark falls and it's time to go to bed, the Oooglow Lamp will be fully charged and capable of emitting a mesmerizing and soft blue-green radiance. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Glow-in-the-dark Lighting:** Create lighting fixtures that use phosphorescent materials to emit a mesmerizing glow in the dark. - **Organic Sculptural Design:** Incorporate organic shapes and modest colors into home decor products for a subtle yet captivating aesthetic. - **LED Technology:** Integrate LED lights into design creations to provide efficient and long-lasting illumination. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Explore innovative lighting options that seamlessly blend functionality and artistic appeal. - **Plastics Manufacturing:** Utilize phosphorescent polyester resin to create unique and visually stunning products. - **Lighting Design:** Combine LED technology with artistic design principles to enhance indoor lighting experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Translucent Bulbous Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-glow-light.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md) - [Calming Orb Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orb-lamp1.md) - [3D-Printed Mood Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbyt.md) - [Textured Moon-Inspired Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-phase-lamp.md) - [Volcanic Stone Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foscarini-lava-lamps.md) - [Ethereal Space-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wormhole-table-lamp.md) - [Futuristic LED Lava Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moonside-lamp-one.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md)
