# Opulent Eco-Friendly Yacht Designs The 'Oneiric' Yacht Runs on 100% Solar Power By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2022-06-03 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oneiric-yacht References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2022/06/03/zaha-hadid-architects-designed-a-luxury-yacht-that-can-run-on-100-solar-power/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=zaha-hadid-architects-designed-a-luxury-yacht-that-can-run-on-100-solar-power) & [zaha-hadid](https://www.zaha-hadid.com/) The 'Oneiric' yacht has been designed by [Zaha Hadid Architects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/refuelling-station) in partnership with Italy-based shipyard [Rossinavi](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seawolf-x) as a [opulent vessel powered by solar energy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aman-amangati-yacht). The yacht features a wave-inspired design that helps to blur the lines between the vessel and the water to draw correlations to its surroundings. Measuring in at 42-meters in length, the yacht-like catamaran has a twin-hull design with a bar saloon complete with sofas, a second deck with a hot tub and a series of dramatic steps that go down to the sea. The 'Oneiric' yacht features a hybrid power system that makes use of solar and fuel, but can be switched to run 100% on solar energy. The solar panels on the vessel will continuously capture energy from the sun, even when not in use. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.6/10 - Popularity: 97% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 12% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) > [Transportation](https://www.trendhunter.com/transportation) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Solar-powered Luxury Yachts:** Opulent solar-powered yachts offer a disruptive innovation opportunity in the luxury yachting industry by providing an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fuel-powered yachts. - **Wave-inspired Yacht Designs:** The wave-inspired design trend offers a disruptive innovation opportunity in yacht design and architecture by leveraging the natural environment and enhancing the seafaring experience. - **Hybrid Power Systems for Ships:** The trend of hybrid power systems for ships offers a disruptive innovation opportunity in the marine industry by combining renewable energy sources with traditional fuel-powered engines to reduce emissions and improve efficiency. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Luxury Yacht Manufacturing:** The luxury yacht manufacturing industry can benefit from the trend of solar-powered yachts by incorporating eco-friendly technologies to meet the growing demand for sustainable and responsible luxury travel experiences. - **Shipbuilding and Design:** The shipbuilding and design industry can leverage the trend of wave-inspired yacht designs to create innovative and unique vessels that enhance the overall experience of seafaring. - **Renewable Energy for Marine Applications:** The renewable energy industry can capitalize on the trend of hybrid power systems for ships by developing innovative technologies that combine renewables with traditional fuel-powered engines to reduce emissions and improve efficiency for the marine industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Solar-Powered Private Catamarans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zen50.md) - [Hybrid Propulsion Yacht Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fluyt-yacht-concept.md) - [Solar Panel Luxe Superyachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flame-superyacht.md) - [Solar Panel-Covered Boat Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ms-porrima-concept-boat.md) - [Luxe Eco-Conscious Spacious Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onyx-h2bo-85.md) - [Water-Reflecting Superyacht Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pegasus-88m-superyacht-concept.md) - [Minimalist Solar Power Catamarans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soel-senses-62-electric-catamaran.md) - [Hydrodynamic Avian-Inspired Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wakinyan-catamaran-yacht.md) - [Opulent Catamaran Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunreef-55-ultima.md)
