# Telescope-Inspired SLRs One Hand Camera By Ayman | Published 2008-05-12 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/one-hand-camera References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/index.php/2008/05/12/a-new-form-of-slr-maybe/) & [perezprada](http://www.perezprada.com/) [Manuel Perez Prada](http://www.perezprada.com) designed a unique concept for a camera that could be used in one hand, which he claims is a new archetype for a camera. The design seems to be inspired by ancient telescopes. While they love the concept, [Yanko Design](http://www.yankodesign.com/index.php/2008/05/12/a-new-form-of-slr-maybe)dissects the mechanism and thinks its pre-mature, given the current technology. They argue that, "The best optical quality comes from the least amount of moving parts and this one looks like it has a boatload with all those rings. Part of being an SLR is being able to adapt or create your environment by the use of interchangeable lenses - characteristics this design seems to forgo. Lastly the flash ring around the lens barrel may in theory create even lighting but having a flash that close to the iris only serves to distort the image." While I agree with them that this might not be the best design for an SLR, it could be great for a convenient less professional camera. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/photography) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Telescope-inspired Cameras:** Opportunity to create innovative cameras with a design inspired by ancient telescopes. - **One-handed Cameras:** Opportunity to develop cameras that can be easily used with one hand, providing convenience for users. - **Compact Professional Cameras:** Opportunity to design compact cameras that offer professional-level features and functionality. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Photography:** Potential for disruptive innovation in the photography industry with the development of new camera designs. - **Consumer Electronics:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the consumer electronics industry by creating innovative and user-friendly cameras. - **Design and Manufacturing:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in the design and manufacturing industry by reimagining the form and functionality of cameras. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modernized Folding Instant Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nextstep-sx100.md) - [Minimalist Aluminum Analog Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mnl-mk1-analog-camera.md) - [Ergonomic Solo Shooting Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clips-camera.md) - [Streetwear-Branded Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/supreme-onehanded-editing-camera.md) - [Easily Maneuvered Outdoor Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duo-camera.md) - [Designer Camera Printer Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polaroid-trance-camera.md) - [Translucent Pocket Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clearcam.md) - [Memory-Making Retro Camera Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duo-modular.md) - [Remixed Stealthy Camera Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leica-m-reimagined.md)
