The remote control is constructed with a low-power hardware platform that can [passively harvest solar energy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soleil-mechanical-tkl) from the ambient environment and will thus provide an almost never-ending level of usage. The remote will also sustain itself for up to four-months of regular use if it's in complete darkness thanks to an internal power reserve. The Omni Remotes Model P [universal remote control](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linxura-smart-home-controller) is designed to be compatible with Android TV, RDK and a wide range of popular set-top box systems. The device has no charging ports or removable components to maximize durability. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 11% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Solar-powered Remote Control:** The integration of solar power into electronic devices for sustainable and renewable energy sources. - **Low-power Hardware Platform:** New and innovative ways to create minimal energy consuming platforms like low-power hardware platforms. - **Durability and Longevity in Devices:** The focus on creating electronic products that are not only energy efficient but also durable and long-lasting. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Consumer Electronics:** Integrating renewable energy sources into consumer electronics, reducing the use of disposable batteries, saves consumers money in the long run. - **Smart Home and Home Automation:** Smart home and home automation technology that utilize sustainable and renewable energy sources could help reduce overall energy consumption and costs for homeowners. - **Energy Storage and Renewable Energy Industries:** Energy storage and renewable energy industries research and development could benefit from the innovation that introduces new ways to integrate and efficiently utilize solar energy sources. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Radio Wave-Powered Remotes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-eco-remote.md) - [Solar-Powered Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slim-solar.md) - [Solar-Powered Door Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solar-door-lock.md) - [Ambient Light-Powered Keyboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lenovo-800-selfcharging-bluetooth-keyboard.md) - [Solar-Powered Oral Care Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quip-solar-battery-charger.md) - [Universal Smart Home Remotes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switchbot-universal-remote.md) - [Solar-Powered Security Cameras](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alphahom-solar-camera.md) - [Intuitive Touchscreen Remote Controls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touchsense-remote.md) - [Remote-Holding Streaming Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-art-tv-box.md)
