[Brazilian graphic designer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightness-tension) Fred Gelli was responsible for creating the Olympic logo to represent this year's 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro and it's noteworthy as the first [three-dimensional logo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-billboards) to be created in the history of the Olympic games.

The lively curving logo is shaped in such a way so that it looks as though three figures are holding hands. The design can be created as a physical 3D model, which makes it possible to bring a new dimension to the [Olympic logo design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-metal-visuals).

Part of the challenge of creating this logo was sizing, with Gelli noting: "It has to be printed on a pen and at the same time it has to dress the whole city," as well as creating a design that could celebrate local culture, yet be understood universally.
