# Playful Wooden Home Interiors Olioli Has Unvarnished Wooden Interior Walls By Joey Haar | Published 2017-02-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olioli References: [archdaily](http://www.archdaily.com/805148/olioli-seets) & [seets.net](http://www.seets.net/works/olioli.html) From the outside, Olioli, a [small family home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/openfield-house) designed by [Japanese architecture firm](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oku-house) Seets, looks just like many of the other homes in the area. But Olioli's vinyl siding on the exterior gives way to a charming and playful space on the interior, one that befits the young family who live there. Olioli is in Mitaka, a rural suburb of Tokyo. Surrounded by trees and fields, the inhabitants of the residence were looking for a home that was in harmony with the nature of the area. Rather than achieving that harmony through complex forms, Seets did so by using a unique style of interior building. The interior of the home has stairways and balconies in uncommon locations, and it's clad in [unfinished pine boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fukasawa-residence) to further give the appearance and scent of the outdoors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 81% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Natural Interior Design:** The use of unfinished pine boards and unique interior layouts in residential spaces offers an opportunity for the trend of natural interior design to thrive. - **Playful Home Interiors:** The incorporation of uncommon stairways and balconies in residential designs creates an opportunity for the trend of playful home interiors to flourish. - **Harmonizing with Nature:** Designing homes that blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment by using natural materials and unconventional layouts offers an opportunity for the trend of harmonizing with nature to be embraced. ### Who This Affects Most - **Residential Architecture:** Architects in the residential industry can explore innovative ways of incorporating natural elements and unique interior layouts to create homes that stand out. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can capitalize on the trend of natural interior design and offer products and materials that help consumers achieve a harmonious and playful aesthetic in their homes. - **Sustainable Construction:** The use of unfinished pine boards as interior cladding presents an opportunity for the sustainable construction industry to promote eco-friendly building materials and practices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Peaceful Wooden-Designed Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hiroo-residence.md) - [Contemporary Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-saidera.md) - [Compact Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/akio-isshiki-architects.md) - [Playful-Focused Polish Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/znamy-si.md) - [Raw Blackened-Wood Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yamaguchicho-house.md) - [Olive Tree-Centric Wooden Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twentieth-house.md) - [Minimal Japanese Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-kyobate.md) - [Prefabricated Exposed Structural Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-unfinished-house.md) - [Sustainable Cubic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appels-architekten.md)
